response to Matt Woolman's Motion Design article...
hmmmmmm.
all assumedly important concepts. a little hard to imagine maybe what implementing some of the space concepts would look like in a more realistic animation. of course it is important to have a consistent set of imagery used to illustrate the differences in each idea (i.e. the leaf or the house), but additional examples of the concept at work would help me think beyond textbook definitions.
i think these are all points worth considering when approaching an animation project. the 1, 2, and 3 point perspective was nice to see illustrated, though again, i would really like to see how the different approaches play out beyond a black and white rendering of a house. some more discussion about the connotative effects of each would be welcomed too.
the examples of the various types of animations seem a bit dated as well. none of these were very effective at conveying the nature of each technique. and likewise, a discussion perhaps of what sorts of content and projects each lends itself well with would have been appreciated.
