Comments: Project H Design

http://projecthdesign.org/projects.html

This is the website of a contemporary nonprofit design firm that I feel exemplifies the principles discussed in the AIGA article.  Their goal is simple: to champion and deliver socially responsible design in the United States and abroad.  They are setting the example for designers worldwide, that the industry is about more than typographics and brand identity, by using their skills to create solutions that work and empower communities.  They have created portable storage shelves for children's hospital rooms in Mexico so that the children have a place to store their toys and a surface to write on.  Projects such as this suggest the kind of empathetic and ethnographic design outlooks described in the Design Trends article.  The process must begin by developing an understanding of a community and its specific problems before we go to work trying to fix them.
